  “What are you thinking?” His voice was so close to her.

  “Why I didn’t notice before?”

  “Notice what?” he asked. “That you were in love with me?”

  “Jah.” She gave a small laugh. “I mean it’s obvious. If I had been able to see it then . . .”

  “All things happen in their own time,” he paraphrased.

  “I know that,” she said. “But all the wasted time.”

  “No time is truly wasted,” he returned.

  She supposed he was right. She might not have been able to admit that she loved him, but she could say it now, and that revelation would carry them for the rest of their lives. Together and in love.
